Early Career Representation
We would like to encourage PhD students and early postdocs to become more involved in our activities, and have therefore created two posts for Early Career Representatives for our regional group.
The South Wales Immunology Group is now run by a committee of four people:
- Chairman - Dr Matthias Eberl
- Secretary and Treasurer - Dr Ian Humphreys
- Postdoc Representative - Dr Joanna Giles
- Student Representative - Sophie Wehenkel
Activities our local students and postdocs are involved in include:
- arranging informal "Meet the Speaker" discussions with our invited speakers
- organising events of interest for students and early postdocs, e.g. career workshops
- organising monthly "Science Pub" meetings at our local pub
- posting student-related content on our website
- maintaing the Facebook profile for our regional group
- liaising with other regional groups
- liaising with the Early Career Representatives on the BSI Forum
- having their own fixed budget for the above mentioned activities
- ... and coming up with additional and/or completely different ideas!
